Subject:Can't connect to local MySQL server
View as plain text
I work on MySQL remotely all the time.
But now SuSE 6.2 installed it on my local server.
It says it's installed correctly.
And I've read the manual and readme's for 3 hours.
But - does anyone know why I'm still getting this error...

ERROR:

/usr/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (111)'
Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/tmp/mysql.sock' exists!

??????

I'm sorry - I know it's something stupid.
Any reply would be very appreciated.
I'm stuck.
