One thing that's probably a factor here is that, even though you've tried
to do your homework before posting and to provide the relevant details,
is that the problem you're experiencing probably isn't seen by many other
people.  MySQL on Mac OS Server may becoming more popular (one hopes),
but at the same time, I imagine it's not a common combination yet.

So if few (or no) people see the same problem, you're not going to get
a response.

I run MySQL on Mac OS X (but not on Mac OS X Server) and I have not
seen the problem.  So in my case, there's not much I could say that
might be of any help.


As for this list welcoming people who haven't bothered to read
the manual, personally I would welcome the huge reduction in
traffic that would ensue if people *would* bother.  Sometimes people
ask questions because they looked and couldn't find the answer.
But not always.
