Subject:Host is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server
View as plain text
Hi again
I've taken your advice and uninstalled MYSQL version 3.23.52-3 (from
Redhat's 8.0 rpm's).
I've downloaded and installed MYSQL version 3.23.54a (rpm version from
MySQL.com).
I've test local access connections successfully - from mysql command prompt
and mysql control centre.

My host details have not changed since my last email - Win2000 Server PC
running MyODBC.

I believe i have been partially successful by not getting the same error
message as before. Unfortunately i am experiencing a different error message
-
"[MySQL]{ODBC 3.51 Driver] Host '203.46.189.20' is not allowed to connect to
this MySQL server."

Any ideas?

Ashleigh Coombs :-)

Again, i have included a dump of myodbc.log file

Hi !!

You can't send any attachments to the list mails; and they don't accept
it. Thats why you got a bounced mail.

Anyway, ..

The reason for this is; you are using the MySQL server distributed by
Redhat. Its a known issue that this distribution causes problems.

The resolution for this is to download and install MySQL from its
website http://www.mysql.com/ directly.

Thanks
