Hi Lebogang,

it seems that you have installed mysql but not started. First, ensure 
you have installed not only client but also the server part (it is 
usually a package named similar to mysql-server on Linux systems). Then 
ensure you've started the installed daemon (service). The way how to 
start the mysqld daemon differs on various systems so if you don't know, 
let us know what your system is.
