Thanks, we finally grasped what you were saying. The confusion on our
part was, we did not understand installing 32-bit 'driver(s)' (opposed to
a 32-bit application), which can be used in compatibility mode on a 64-bit
OS.
myodbc@stripped

After doing so (installing the 32-bit ODBC), it is available for use from
within 'Access 2007', but when we create a 'New' file Data Source, for use
with importing or linking (Access2007= front end, MySQL= back end), the
following dialog(s):

Import Objects or Link tables, respectively, are totally empty; this is
not the case on our 32-bit install of win-7 whereby the 'import Objects'
and 'link Tables' dialog are populated.

Your continued assistance on this issue would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I am quoting my 1st reply
"If you use 32bit applications on 64bit OS you will still need 32bit
odbc driver. "

Please install 32bit driver.

"64" and "32" in packages names means that they contain 64bit or 32bit
binaries. In many cases(if not in most) people use 32bit application on
64bit windows.
