Subject:Re: ODBC 5.1.10 -- Issues on Windows-7 after installation
View as plain text
After further research it appears that 'Access 2007' is using
'%windir%\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe' which does not show the installed ODBC
driver.

When we manually browse our HDD to %windir%\System32\odbcad32.exe and "run
as administrator" we are able to see the driver in the listing. This
leaves us with the following question: Why is this driver not available in
'Access 2007'?

Telling us we are using the wrong this or that is not helping us. How do
we correct this?
-----------

This is starting to become beyond ridiculous. After installing the 64-bit
odbc we are unable to select it from a list of drivers within Access 2007
on this 64-bit install of windows-7.

We are attempting to use MicroSoft Access 2007 on a 64-bit install of
windows-7 to connect via ODBC to our mysql install on a unix variant
machine.

The 64-bit ODBC installs with no errors; but we cannot see the
driver/listing within the "Create New Data Source" dialog window. Which
means we cannot connect to the mysql server (machine).

:-)

Hello,

I guess you need to use %windir%\System32\odbcad32.exe to see 64bit
drivers and create DSN's.

%windir%\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe will show you 32bit drivers.

If you use 32bit applications on 64bit OS you will still need 32bit odbc
driver. But from your letter I got an impression that your application
is 64bit, that is only that you use wrong ODBC administrator.

lawrin
