Hm. Compiling PHP is not the easiest of tasks, since it depends on many libraries.
I've compiled a package for SuSE 8.0 and Apache 1.3.23. If you think you want to
try it, I can send it to you.

What I did was taking the source RPM from SuSE, modifying it to my needs
and build the package with that. Maybe you can do the same with Redhat.
