Subject:install of 7.6.10 failed on Debian Etch
View as plain text
    bonjour,

I wanted to test maxdb 7.6.10 on a Debian Etch box for testing with a
backup-recovery of 7.5.26 instances.

I tried with SDBINST and SDBSETUP

SDBSETUP is searching for libtiff3, deprecated on Debian Etch. I needed
to link libtiff.so.3 to libtiff.so.4.1.2 (symbolic link) and it worked. Then I
found libtiff3 on an older Debian machine running MaxDB 7.5.26

Then installation failed :

here is the SDBINST log :

I tried then on the Etch Box running the 7.5.26 server. I ran SDBSETUP
only, just the beginning of the installation process. No error.

The only difference I see between the two Debian Etch machines is the
kernel version : Debian 2.6.8 on the test machine, custom 2.6.11.12 on
the other. The two machines are up to date.

md5sum is correct.

any idea ???
