MaxDB is the successor of the SAPDB. SAPDB is a product with an ADABAS
(www.software-ag.de) codebase which was modified by SAP.
The database "MySQL" (mysqld) has as of now nothing in common with the
SAPDB/MaxDB beside the company name. There are development projects ongoing
to have a "proxy" to use the p. ex. MySQL developed coding of a PHP based
website to store the data in MaxDB and maybe there are some other features
ported to MySQL but it's a totally different codebase as of now.
