I suppose you mean Connector/J 2.0.14 and MySQL 3.23.49 :)
The only other times I've seen something like this happen is when your
database connection is through a firewall, or you have a flakey network
component. Are you connecting to 'localhost', or are you connecting to
some server other than the one your Java program is running on? What is
the network topology between the two?
