JDBC Interface for Embedded Server ?

Hello there,

Are there any plans to write a JDBC interface to the mysql embedded 
library (libmysqld) ?

Currently there is only a C API for the embedded library,
it would certainly be nice to have it integrated into a JDBC driver.

What I'm thinking of is a server that gets started from an application
and communicates directly via the libmysqld library (not over a network 
connection).
