Subject:connections to an application
View as plain text
Hi, I was wondering if you could help. Basically we have an application
running under RedHat Linux 6.0 that listens to incoming connections, and for
each connection it spawns a new thread. Regardless of the amount of RAM
that we put in the machine we reach the bizarre limit of 186 persistant
connections, and then it refuses to spawn any more.

The virtual machine is Blackdown, and we set its parameters to use all the
RAM in the machine... so I guess the problem is the actual linux
connections. I thought the default minimum was 1024 though, not 186.

Does anybody have any ideas why this is happening, and are there any hints
to try and improve the number of persistant connections?

Thanks,
Adam
