The IBM JDK is available at no charge.  We use it for production and
hear numerous reports that it works reliably.  You can get it from:

http://www.ibm.com/java/jdk/118/linux/

It works with RedHat 6.2, and in fact requires relatively recent
versions of Linux and libc.  IBM also has a prerelease implementation of
JDK 1.3 available from alphaworks.ibm.com, but we have no experience
with this as yet.
