MySQL on SGI

I am trying to run MySQL on an SGI box.  I got everything to compile and
install but the performance is very bad.  I had the database on a 4proc
Origin with 4GB of ram.  The performance was so bad that I switched it to a
1proc 933MHz PC running Linux with 192MB of ram and am getting about 4 times
the performance.

Does anybody have MySQL running on an SGI-IRIX box and getting the kind of
performance they would expect?  Any thoughts would be appreciated.
