Adjust compression level

Hello,

the compressionlevel between the MySQL Client/Server seems to be fix :-(

But i have a lot of different connections to the server ( Server:1GHz )

 100MBit, 10MBit, 6MBit/384, 1MBit/256, 128kByte.

if the data huge and high compressable on the 2-10MBit/s the default compression are not
good balanced :-(

10MBit/s without compression - the network card ist used to 100% ~40 seconds
10MBit/s + compression - the network card ist used to <5% but the CPU are ~27 seconds
100%

i need something like "gzip -1" :)
