Autoconf + Automake

Im in the process of trying to clean up all my random dabblings in the mysql
source and it seems that I have generated a significant amount of diffs due
to differences in my autoconf + automake usage ( used to create the
Makefile.in + configure files ). Can someone elighten me as to the
'official' versions and flags used when creating the source distribution
files with autoconf + automake? Thanks,
