GD is a graphics library.  The only use for it in Eventum is on the
Statistics page where Pie Charts are displayed.  Other than that every
other function in Eventum will work without problem.

The server owners assure me that there are no problems with multiple PHP
copies.

However......

I bypassed the GD check in setup and all appears to be fine. Any idea
what behavior I might expect with GD disabled, at least as far as
Eventum concerned?

I'd check that you are running the same PHP for the test as the web
server. All the test does is a do a php_info(). It looks like there are
two PHPs on the system.
