Subject:mail sending/SMTP problem
View as plain text
I tried many times and configurations in order to have mail sendig working.

I didn't setup the cronjob but called "by hand" the
misc/process_mail_queue.php file to see if it printout any erros

At first I tried to use a remote SMTP with authentication, nothing to do
So I reconfigured the SMTP to work without authentication for the IP of
eventum server, nothing to do
Then I decided to install and configure a local STMP on the eventum
server, nothing to do

For all the above steps I tested the SMTP connection by using pine form
the eventum server and it always worked fine.
In all cases the mail server didn't log any connection attempt from
"eventum", while pine connection were there

Then I started to put some echo debug messages in order to try to trace
the problem.
I got down to the pear classes, down to the SMTP socket class without
results.

Everithing seem fine (no errors occours) but it does not work.

At the end, frustrated, I changed the class.mail_queue.php at line 215
by telling to the pear mail class to use mail (practically mail
configuration in php.ini) instead of smtp and it started to send mail.......

The eventum server use latest php version 5.0.5, maybe is something
connected to it but I wasn't able/didn't have enougth time to track it down.

Is anybody using eventum with a recent (5.0.x) php version?

Roberto
