Hmm. That should work. Send me the utf-8 code for the character(s) you are
trying to insert. Also, send me the show create table output for the table
you are putting it in.

the character of the table is utf8....
now, note that I have succesfully inserted strings containing unicode
characters, namely: \u00e0 (= a with accent), \u010b (= c with small dot on
top),
\u0127 (= h with a line on its head), \u017c (= small z with a dot on its
head)
SHOW VARIABLES LIKE 'character_set_server' returns utf8
