Hi Paul,
Interesting - can you tell me what you have tested?
i.e.
- MySQL version
- What you were doing (connecting mysql client / setting up replication)?
- What IPv6 facilities you had available other than ::1?
- What you expected to see?
- What happened?

I have done various tests and used *addresses* other than ::1, but not
used any non-looped-back connections.
e.g.
- Start Master server bound to local eth0 IPv6 address
- Attempt to connect client to 127.0.0.1 - fails
- Attempt to connect client to ::1 - fails
- Attempt to connect client to eth0 IPv6 address - ok
- Same with replication.

I am inferring from this that the Master binding is correctly binding to
only the relevant addresses with an IPv6 address.
This doesn't mean that firewall, routing or other concerns don't stop me
making a real, external IPv6 connection.
One idea for a 'real' test is to use one of the IPv6 tunnel services to
create an inter-machine IPv6 tunnel over the Internet.
Another alternative is probably to set up some VMs and configure IPv6
routing between them, although I'm not sure that this qualifies as a
'real' example.
What do you think?
Frazer

P.S. Easiest would be if Sun had a handy IPv6 configured lab available
somewhere - I'll check
