Yes, a recomplie is required. I don't see an alternative. Existing
shared objects on Mac OS X use the wrong function. AT least a re-link
would be required, but only if we had a shared object to link it from.
We coose the simpler approach of renaming. So the plugin must be
re-compiled to use the renamed function.

Ok, I add him on CC.
Sanjay, the below patch, if approved and pushed, will rename MySQL's
hash_*() functions. Storage engines/plugins that use these functions
need to be recompiled when the server contains this change.
