Subject:NDBD addition failed
View as plain text
Hi Guys,

so I added a physical NDBD process (id=5) to the running cluster. After
about an hour of copying all the tablespace info, ndbd_mgm showed this :

Cluster Configuration
---------------------
[ndbd(NDB)]	2 node(s)
id=4	@10.32.4.20  (mysql-5.1.35 ndb-7.0.7, Nodegroup: 0, Master)
id=5	@10.32.4.30  (mysql-5.1.35 ndb-7.0.7, no nodegroup) <<<<-- issue

[ndb_mgmd(MGM)]	1 node(s)
id=1	@10.32.4.10  (mysql-5.1.35 ndb-7.0.7)

[mysqld(API)]	2 node(s)
id=2	@10.32.4.40  (mysql-5.1.35 ndb-7.0.7)
id=3	@10.32.4.50  (mysql-5.1.35 ndb-7.0.7)

can anyone tell me why it (id=5) failed to join nodegroup 0 ?

id=4 was started with 'ndbd --nowait-nodes=5', id=5 was started simply
with 'ndbd -v'. All the tablespaces (About 200 gig worth) were
replicated from node 4 to node 5, but none of the data was copied. After
seeing the statement :

Node 5: Started (version 7.0.7)

in ndbd_mgm, I then saw this ..:

Node 4: Data usage is 52%(183775 32K pages of total 347520)
Node 4: Index usage is 25%(44408 8K pages of total 173856)
Node 5: Index usage is 0%(0 8K pages of total 173856)
Node 5: Data usage is 0%(0 32K pages of total 347520)

Given that it said the node started and yet ndb_mgm for node 5 showed
'no nodegroup' I did a stop of that node.

so I assume I forgot to do something ... any pointers ?

thanks again

Richard
