The syntax for this command is notoriously tricky.

I _think_ your missing a "." in the end of the line to specify path:

[root@BOX2 BACKUP-1]# ndb_restore --backupid=1 --nodeid=2 --restore_data 
--restore_metadata /path/to/backup/files/for/node2/backupid1/

where path should be "." if you alreay in this directory.
