No, thats not it. If you look at the original bug report 
(http://lists.mysql.com/cgi-ez/ezmlm-cgi?9:mss:1141 ) you'll see that I 
have a simple test script to reproduce this.

It works on postgresql and with oracle (after chaning the join syntax)
