Dear MySQL Users,
a new version the MySQL Connector/OpenOffice.org has been made
available: MySQL Connector/OpenOffice.org 1.0.2alpha (Alpha 2). The
driver can be used to connect from OpenOffice.org 3.1 to MySQL 5.1 or
newer.
The MySQL Connector/OpenOffice.org is implemented as an easy to install
OpenOffice.org extension. You can download the extension at:
ftp://qa-upload.services.openoffice.org/MySQLNative/
The alpha version of the MySQL driver for OpenOffice.org is
significantly different from previous versions. Early versions of the
driver have called the MySQL Client Library directly. The new version is
based on the MySQL Connector/C++. Connector/OpenOffice.org is a thin
wrapper around Connector/C++. OpenOffice.org and the MySQL Connector/C++
are written in C++. The OpenOffice.org database interface is derived
from JDBC. Connector/C++ offers a JDBC like API.
The source code is avilable from the OpenOffice.org code repository. The
Connector/OpenOffice.org development takes place in the child workspace
"mysqlnative".
You can find further details, including installation instructions, on
the projects MySQL Forge wiki page at:
http://forge.mysql.com/wiki/Connector_OpenOffice
Please note, the MySQL Connector/OpenOffice.org is released as an alpha
version. We do not recommend using the driver in production environments
or systems with critical data. Please note, official support is not
available for the alpha version of Connector/OpenOffice.org.

Feedback, bug reports, bug fixes, patches and so on are welcome and
appreciated.
